1.0 INTRODUCTION
Organizational culture is one way through which an organization safeguards itself from external forces that affect the business environment. Organizational culture is defined as the company's beliefs, values, and attitudes, and how these factors affect the behavior of employees and customers, it can also be defined to mean the basic assumptions and beliefs shared within an organization. This assignment looks at how Organization Culture is maintained in a business. Specifically, the assignment will answer questions like; what is organizational culture and why is important, and the various ways through which it is maintained?
Organizational culture in a business is maintained by organizing and managing individuals and teamwork within an organization to achieve organizational goals and objectives. The organizational structure supports and promotes efficiency, inspires better production, and provides clarity for each employee at every level.
Organizational structure is maintained through an attraction-selection-attrition process where employees are attracted to organizations they will coordinate with.
Attraction-Selection-Attrition: this theory clearly holds that:
⦁ Organizations are most likely to attract members that are similar to them regarding personality, values, and interests among so many others
⦁ Individuals who possess similar skills, knowledge, and abilities as the existing members of the organization are most likely to be selected by the management
⦁ With time, individuals who do not fit in well within the organization are most likely to leave.
According to the above factors, the personal traits of the employees who work for an organization are most likely to become similar over time thus maintaining organizational culture.
