1.0 INTRODUCTION
Leadership is a relationship that occurs between groups of people who believe that another person or group member has a right to impose policies that they must abide by in the course of carrying out their activities in an organization. Leadership models are defined to mean definite leadership behaviors to be used in the management of a particular organization or environment. There are several types of leaders namely; authoritarian leaders, Paternalistic leaders, participative leaders, the laissez-faire leadership. An authoritarian leader has absolute power to make decisions and has control over his subordinates. According to Kurt Lewin, the authoritarian leadership style is achievable only when there is no need for input. This kind of leadership is most applicable to circumstances where there is little time or no time for group decision-making or where the leader is exceptionally experienced in the business that is being carried out. This paper is going to examine the various theories and models of leadership.
