1.0 INTRODUCTION
With the ongoing growth and development of globalization, the traditional ways of doing business are becoming more and more irrelevant each day that passes. The current economic world requires managers to become global managers with a global perspective with the necessary skills and knowledge so as to operate effectively in a globalized business environment.
Once a manager has a global mindset, he or she can globally strategize the business which requires them to integrate the three global forces of (a) global business, (b) regional pressures, and (c) worldwide purposes. A manager is a person who plans and directs the work done by a group of individuals by observing their work and correcting their actions where the need arises.
On the contrary, a global manager is branded by the work he or she does within an organization with global operations. A global manager manages complex businesses that are conducted across different cultures or countries. It is important to note these managers must engrain a global mindset in the course of conducting business because it gives them the ability to observe, appreciate and weigh the principles, ethics, and business practices of organizations from distinct parts of the world. This paper is going to analyze the concept of Global Managers and Global Mindset and the theories which relate to this concept such as the ‘great man’ theory of leadership and the behavioral approach.
